Morningstar APIs give you programmatic access to Morningstar data and analytics. This section has a guide for each API, plus the setup steps every integration needs: getting access, authenticating, identifying investments, and handling large or long-running requests.

## [Where to start](#where-to-start)

New to Morningstar APIs? Work through the Get Started pages in order. They take you from your first request to the concepts you'll use in every integration.

1. [Quick Start](https://developer-beta.morningstar.com/api-quick-start): Make your first API call.
2. [Authentication](https://developer-beta.morningstar.com/api-authentication): Get a token and include it in your requests.
3. [Identifiers](https://developer-beta.morningstar.com/api-identifiers): Learn how to identify investments across APIs.
4. [Pagination](https://developer-beta.morningstar.com/api-pagination): Page through large sets of results.
5. [Synchronous and Asynchronous APIs](https://developer-beta.morningstar.com/api-synchronous-asynchronous): Know when you'll get a response right away and when you need to check back for results.

Already know which data you need? Go straight to the API guides below.

## [Utilities](#utilities)

These APIs support the others. You'll likely use them alongside one or more of the guides above.

- [Authentication API](https://developer-beta.morningstar.com/authentication-api): Request and manage the tokens you use to call other APIs.
- [Universe API](https://developer-beta.morningstar.com/universe-api): Work with the investment universes available to your account.

## [Get help from AI](#get-help-from-ai)

The [API Assistant MCP Server](https://developer-beta.morningstar.com/api-assistant-mcp) connects your AI tools to Morningstar API documentation, so you can ask questions and get help building requests without leaving your workflow.
