# Investment Details API

Get detailed profile data for a single investment, drawing on Morningstar's fundamental, reference, and historical data.

# Views

A view is a predefined set of data points with a unique identifier that you use to specify the data the API returns.

An endpoint is defined for each names one or more views, and the API returns the data points in those views for your investments.

| View Type | Description                                                                      |
| :-------- | :------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| package   | Represents a standard Morningstar data package definition.                       |
| dataset   | Represents a subset of data points in a standard Morningstar package definition. |

`package` is the default view type.

## [View IDs](#view-ids)

A `viewId` identifies a view. You don't have to remember view IDs. The API lists the views you can request, and the data points in each one. See [Get View IDs](https://developer-beta.morningstar.com/investment-details-feed-api/get-view-ids).
