Investment Details Feed API

Get detailed profile data for up to 250 investments in a single request, drawing on Morningstar's fundamental, reference, and historical data..

Investment Details

Getting investment details from the feed takes two steps. You submit a request, and you collect the results when they are ready. This page explains how the two steps fit together. The pages in this section cover each one in detail.

The Request and Retrieve Cycle

The API processes each request as a job, so it doesn't return data in the response to the request.

  1. Request. Send a POST request with your investments and views. The API accepts it and returns a jobId and a link for checking the job. See Investment Details.
  2. Wait. The job runs in the background. Check its status using the link that came with the response.
  3. Retrieve. When the job is complete, retrieve the results. See Retrieve Investment Details.

What You Need Before You Request

Plan Your Requests

Each request can include up to 250 investments and up to 3 views. To load data for a larger universe, split it into several requests, and merge the results.

  • Keep a record of the jobId and the requestId for each request. Include the requestId if you contact support.
  • To keep a copy of the data current, request only what has changed. See Delta Loads.
